Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri Engenders Progressive Development With His Eleven-Point Agenda.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has engendered progressive development and credible achievements in Adamawa State with his futuristic eleven-point agenda, thus reiterating his commitment to deliver crucial dividends of democracy to the people of Adamawa State.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has delivered on key socio-economic indicators including qualitative education, security, welfare of civil servants, and other developmental projects.

The issue of insecurity was quickly tackled by the action governor when he came on board by deploying a brand-new security formula that has brought insurgency, kidnapping, and other criminalities to the barest minimum.

Understanding the significance of a professional civil service in a democratic state, Governor Fintiri speedily introduced far-reaching reforms in the civil service leading to the appointment of credible and competent technocrats which has brought sanity and effective formulation and implementation of Government policies for the benefit of the people of the State.

In the critical area of road infrastructure, over 300 kilometers of roads are undergoing construction in rural areas, which will open them for viable economic growth and development. While in the State capital, over 18.3 kilometres of roads are undergoing construction. For the first time in the state, Governor Fintiri administration started the construction of new roads against the past practice of endless rehabilitation. The roads are at various stages of completion across the state capital, and they will be completed within the time frame of the contract.

In the education sector, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration has paid UBE counterpart funding for the years 2016, 2017, 2018 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 accumulating UBEC grants which have been utilised for statutory purposes. The Adamawa State government is also paying monthly N10.5m for buying learning and instructional materials for public schools in the State, which has ended the era of PTA buying chalk and other learning materials in public schools.

In the health sector, the Fintiri administration has embarked on a total reconstruction of six General Hospitals in the State while building five new cottage hospitals in Shelleng, Lamurde, FUTY Sengere, Gombi and Gulak.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration inherited a government borrowing 3.2 billion naira to pay salaries and a bulk of debt, resulting in Adamawa paying over 1.1 billion naira monthly and others amounting to about 700 million in debts. He added that the immediate past administration has destroyed the economy of the state so much that it was unable to pay civil servants salaries

He said when his administration came on board, through the advice of experts; he met the State House of Assembly to approve the extension of the period of the settlement of the debt with banks which was approved. That enabled his government to improve the State economy, hence, prompt payment of civil servants’ salaries.

While the state government inherited a huge debt profile running into billions of naira, it was able to negotiate an extension of the repayment period to enable the state government to pay workers’ salaries.

Other liabilities that the administration inherited were over 5 billion liabilities on local government township roads. However, the government was able to mobilize the contractors back to the site which led to the completion of numerous roads in Mubi, Ganye, the State capital, and the completion of Kiri-Shelleng Road and Pella-Maiha Road.
